Birdland

This male 'White-Rumped Shama' or 'Shama Thrush' was a regular visitor outside one of our front windows a few months ago. He and his mate ended up taking over the bird feeder hanging on a low tree branch - a coconut hollowed out with a hole in the side to allow birds to get in - and laid a clutch of eggs in which two healthy chicks came out of.

I was happy to see that because it added to the variety of Northern Cardinals, Mynah Birds, Cattle Egrets and Zebra Doves that are regular visitors around our house. Not to mention that I really love hearing them sing. They truly are the most melodic bird. How fortunate were we to have a 'Discovery Channel' episode happen right in front of us. I hope they return again.
