There's potential for good things to happen to the island not only for it's strategic use, but economic growth as well.
It's obviously not an island on everyone's list to visit, but it has potential to have its share of R&R facilities - at least for those who will eventually maintain the air strip and facilities.
Back in the day there was a very nice hotel on the island called the Tinian Dynasty Hotel and Casino. Unfortunately through a series of missteps on the financial front that caught the eye of the US Government (Tinian is considered a commonwealth or US Territory) that was enough to sustain a massive fine, along with not too many people visiting to keep operating, the hotel shut down. ML and I stayed there during a short island hopping trip from Guam with my in-laws in its heyday, and it was a pretty nice property. Marble here and there, awesome views of the Pacific Ocean from the room, and a nice restaurant and pool gave it a resort feel. There was even a nice beach within walking distance.

There are beaches and historical artifacts and sights to make it a destination for the adventurous and WWII history buffs, and it would be great to see the island come to life after decades of being off the grid from the world. ~
